We strive to make out of hospital pregnancy care accessible to all families. We will work with you to set up a payment plan that fits your budget. We also bill all major health insurers and will work to get you the reimbursement you deserve.
The Standard Professional Services Fee for midwifery care at Brookhaven Natural Birth Center is $5,000.00. This fee includes prenatal visits, an on-call midwife for your birth and 6-week maternal postpartum visit. Patients who are uninsured or underinsured receive a 10% discount, and this fee drops to $4,500.00.
The Birth Center Facility Fee is charged for births that occur in our facility and is $2,500.00 for the Maternal Facility Fee and $1,000.00 for Newborn Facility Fee. If a client labors at the birth center for any amount of time but then transfers care to the hospital for any reason and the baby is not born at Brookhaven the maternal facility fee is still due, but the $1,000.00 Newborn fee is refunded. If a baby is born en route to the birth center but is admitted to the birth center for any length of time for postpartum care the facility fee for both maternal and newborn is still due. Facility fees are eligible for income-based discounts.
The In-Home Convenience Fee is charged for births that occur at home-even if not planned or attended by a midwife. This fee is charged to cover costs for miscellaneous items such as the use of equipment, convenience, and mileage reimbursement. This fee is $500.00.
The Newborn Care Fees are charged for newborn exams, Metabolic Screening (PKU), and weight checks. The average fees for newborn care are $875.00 which includes the state mandated metabolic screen, Critical Congenital Heart Defect screening (CCHD), an initial newborn exam, newborn keepsake footprints, filing of birth certificate, Social Security number registration, and 3 additional newborn exams (24-72 hours, 2 weeks, and 6 weeks). There are additional fees for extra appointments and weight checks, these fees range from $25.00-$175.00. Newborn Care Fees are eligible for income-based discounts.
The Postpartum Fee is charged for the 24 – 48-hour postpartum visit and 2-week postpartum visit. The fee is $175.00 per appointment. Postpartum fees are eligible for income-based discounts.
The No Call/No Show Fee is charged if a patient does not show up for an appointment without giving our office at least 24 hours’ notice. The fee for the first no call no show is $50.00, the second occurrence is $75, the third is $175, and may also result in a dismissal from our care.
